this week’s post is a day late. This past week was my first week as a reporter for Industry Dive and I am adjusting to the new schedule. In addition, the wildfire smoke from Canada forced me to stay indoors starting from Wednesday until now.

I want to shout out my dear friends and family in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community. I love you, I see you, and I celebrate all of who you are.
Before We Go On…
I want to acknowledge that this is the first time I’m really celebrating pride month. That’s because I grew up in an evangelical environment that was — and is — openly opposed to the advancement of LGBTQIA+ rights.
It’s taken me a long time to deconstruct that part of my faith. Friends helped. Family helped. Co-workers helped. And reading a book about the Bible and LGBTQIA+ issues helped.
I want to say sorry for the ways I failed to love my LGBTQIA+ neighbors in the past. I should have spoken up, marched and stood with y’all. I’m deeply sorry and I do hope y’all can forgive me.
Moving forward, I want to make reparations for my part in the harm y’all have experienced. This post is part of that effort.
Just the Facts, Man
There’s been a lot of state laws aimed at transgender children this year. Seems like everyone has an opinion on things like trans students in sports and gender-affirming care. So I wanted to take a minute to look at cold hard data about the transgender community.
